Cultural Agreement Between The Government of the Italian Republic and the government of the socialist republic of Viet Nam

The Government of the Italian Republic and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (hereinafter referred to as the 'Contracting Parties');

Wishing to strengthen the friendly relations existing between the two Countries and develop cooperation in the cultural field.

have agreed as follows:

Article 1

The Contracting Parties shall encourage the development and promotion of cooperation between the two Countries in the fields of culture and arts and to this end shall undertake to:

a) encourage the exchange and visits of teachers, researchers, experts, artists, as well as their participation in conferences, meetings and seminars organized in their countries;

b) facilitate the mutual exchange of books, publications, reproductions of works of art, films and music programmes, Radio-T V programmes and other similar materials;

c) favor the organization of art exhibitions and artistic activities in each other's territory, as well as cooperation in the fields of literature, film, music, arts, sports and youth activities;

d) exchange experiences and didactic material in the educational field

Article 2

The Contracting Parties may grant to each other's nationals, in accordance with their respective procedures in force, scholarships, for commencing or continuing studies in various institutions of higher learning.

Article 3

The Contracting Parties shall facilitate, as much as possible, study and research in their Universities, Institutes, or other educational establishments and institutions of higher education

Article 4

1. The Contracting Parties shall agree on the creation of a Joint Committee in order to establish and control the modalities of implementation of this Agreement and shall need at least once every three years, alternatively in the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and in the Italian Republic.

2. The Joint Committee shall be formed with the representatives of both Governments.

Article 5

This Agreement shall enter into force 60 days from the date on which the Contracting Parties shall inform each other that the formalities required by their respective Constitutions for the entry into force of this Agreement have been complied with.

Article 6

The present Agreement shall continue in force unless terminated bay either of the Contracting Parties by a six month's notice.

In witness where of the undersigned being duly authorized by their respective Governments, have signed this Agreement.

Done in Rome on May 18^th, 1990, in two originals in the English language, both texts being equally authentic.
